                                                   UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Love: An intense feeling of deep affection. Everyday, over five children die due to abuse and neglect. In return, over 30% of these children will abuse their own children, and the cycle continues. At conception, a parent makes the choice to create a living being, unless the pregnancy was unplanned. Conventionally, this new parent should love and cherish this child they were endowed with. Child abuse is an international issue and is not concentrated to one area of the world. Although some organizations have been created to prevent this concern, child abuse is still prominent throughout the world. I feel that child abuse is wrong and not ethical. As Harold Hulbert once said, “Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.”
I decided to portray the child abuse issue because it is an issue so foreign to me, yet I feel so empathetic. Children are the future of our world, therefore, we need to ensure their rights and goods. To create my hexagon, I used a black construction-paper background to symbolize the negative aspect of this issue. I then drew a child’s hand with cuts and scrapes covering it saying “But Mommy, I thought you loved me?” to touch the hearts of those who can imagine a small child saying this. The red lettering of the “STOP CHILD ABUSE” draws attention to the concern and makes the viewer more prone to noticing it. All around, my hexagon was to show the foul and sorrowful aspects of child abuse, so more things can be done to stop this problem in our world.
